Le Centre de Raja Yoga Brahma Kumaris in Burkina Faso opened in June 2005 in Ouagadougou. Situated right in the hustle and bustle of the city centre, many are surprised to discover such an oasis of peace.
The centre generates new waves of well-being in this corner of the world. Through its courses in Raja Yoga Meditation and personal development, the centre aims to facilitate the experience of knowing oneself, being open, finding new independence from limiting self concepts, and enjoying self mastery—both emotionally and materially—through which peace can truly be felt.
Raja Yoga Meditation has been found to give practitioners the experience of inner peace and stability by developing the power of self-control and self-management. People who practice Raja Yoga report greater efficiency due to an increased ability to concentrate on day-to-day tasks.
As a place of life-long learning—the centre functions as a meeting point where ideas are shared on themes of practical wisdom. It provides a safe environment that motivates individuals to tap into their inner treasures and develop their latent creativity.
Since the centre’s foundation, hundreds of individuals have quenched their thirst for spirituality. Innumerable Burkinabese, both male and female, feel they have received new life as a result of our courses and programs. Some of the students report that they no longer allow their emotions to rule them; others say that nervousness has vanished. Others say that concentration has improved during prayer. Many report that they have become more comfortable with themselves and in their relationships. Many have stopped complaining! These effects are not only rewarding but are proving to be long-term.
The teachings of the Brahma Kumaris, given free of charge, help individuals understand their inner strengths and values and to “be the change they wish to see in the world”. From such individual transformation, there can be world transformation. The Brahma Kumaris live by the maxim, “When I change the world changes.”
