Raja Yoga meditation redefines the self as a soul and enables a direct connection and relationship with the Supreme Source of purest energy and highest consciousness. Raja Yoga can be translated as ‘supreme union’, or as ‘highest connection’. Every soul has a right to experience this ultimate relationship.
The Benefits of Meditation
Meditation calms the mind and body. It dissolves many fears replacing them with lightness and freedom from anxiety. It expands one’s capacity to love. It is the process of re-discovering, enjoying and using the positive qualities latent within you. Meditation helps create new attitudes and responses to life, as it gives a deeper spiritual understanding of oneself. With practice, meditation brings the glow of inner peace, gentle yet strong.

Consciousness & Self–Realization
Self–awareness and self–understanding are cultivated in order to realize one’s true spiritual identity. In the meditative state, the self is experienced as conscious energy taking the form of a point of light. This spiritual energy, the soul, is experienced as both different and separate from the energy of the material body.
The roles and interplay between mind, intellect and personality are understood through a process of self–observation. The meditator learns to quiet and control the mind, allowing the conscience to be clearly heard. Understanding the relationship between acquired values and innate values and between values and virtues is emphasized, along with the importance of reviewing and renewing one’s values at the deepest level of one’s life. Conscious awareness of the soul is thus developed, allowing full understanding of the self.
Our Home of Silence
Beyond the physical world of planets and galaxies there is a non–physical realm of subtle spiritual energy. Beyond that is a luminous world of pure silence, where souls abide in an incorporeal state–beyond acting or thinking–still, silent, aware, and in total peace. That world ‘beyond sound’ (nirvana) is the original home of all souls, from whence all souls have come onto the earth.
Relationship with God
As meditation helps consciousness move beyond self–limiting beliefs, the presence of God is experienced in the state of yoga – a mental link with the Source of spiritual power.
The Law of Karma
Understanding the natural Law of Karma – which governs the relationships between the human soul, God and the material world – is essential for cultivating right awareness and consciously choosing right thoughts and actions. As the practice of meditation leads to an experience of inner strength, practical methods are offered to help shape and direct spiritual power into accurate and effective responses and actions in daily life.
The Eternal World Drama
Time is perceived as moving in cycles and life as a whole is presented as an unlimited drama on the stage of the world. This perspective of time and constantly changing scenes ( and geography) restores the ability to find meaning and significance in local and global events.
The Tree of Life
The lesson on the Tree of Life offers insights into evolution and creation, illustrating why the world is so fragmented today, and explaining the value, the roles and the relationships between diverse human interest groups and disciplines such as religion, science, politics and business.
A Spiritual Lifestyle
With an improved level of self–understanding comes the awareness of how behavior and a spiritual lifestyle – which comprises a balanced blend of meditation, spiritual study, vegetarian diet, responsibilities and relationships and spiritual service – can complement and enhance spiritual development in daily life.
