The Significance of Sleep

We spend nearly a third of our life asleep. Recent research suggests that 25% of people in this country suffer from poor quality sleep. Too much stimulation, worry and anxiety may be some of the main culprits. But do we actually sleep too much or too little? Why do we need sleep at all? Are there are any simple relaxation and winding down routines to help us close the day effectively? And how does the conscious practice of quality thoughts improve our ability to live happily and well?
Joanna Kitto is a lecturer in Psychology at the Isle of Man College and co-ordinator of the BK Centre on the Island. Joanna’s warm and gentle nature and her commitment to learning and teaching makes her sharing both practical and inspirational.
